Armstrong wins PC nomination in Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley

BROOKFIELD – A longtime educator and former Member of Parliament is running for the Nova Scotia PC Party in the next provincial general election.

Scott Armstrong won the Progressive Conservative nomination in the constituency of Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley on October 21.

“As someone who has worked in public education for many years, I have seen first-hand the improvements that Premier Tim Houston and his PC Team have delivered for our children, youth, teachers and the classroom.  We can’t risk going back to the damage that Zach Churchill and the Liberals inflicted on not only education, but healthcare and housing,” said Armstrong.  “I’m running to be the MLA so that our constituency continues to have a strong voice in government and to keep building up Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley and all Nova Scotia with Tim Houston as Premier.”

Armstrong is the Principal of South Colchester Academy in Brookfield. He has given back to his community in a wide range of roles, including as a basketball coach.  He served as the Member of Parliament for Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley from 2009 to 2015.   He also served as Executive Vice President of the PC Party of Nova Scotia from 2003 to 2006 under Premier John Hamm and President of the PC Party of Nova Scotia under Premier Rodney MacDonald.

Armstrong holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Acadia University, a Master of Social Science Education from Florida State University and a PhD from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He lives in Brookfield with his wife Tammy.  Together, they have three adult children and three grandchildren.

“Larry Harrison served the people of Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley with integrity and compassion for more than a decade," said Premier Tim Houston.  “With PC Party members choosing Scott Armstrong as their candidate, I know that Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley is getting a high energy, hardworking experienced leader to be their MLA as a key member of my team in government.”

Premier Tim Houston’s PC Team has delivered record investments in healthcare, housing and infrastructure.  The Houston PCs also provided tax relief, while at the same time fighting against the Liberal carbon tax.
