A Record-Breaking Capital Plan to Unlock Nova Scotia’s Potential

Tim Houston’s PC government is once again making historic investments to move Nova Scotia forward. The largest-ever capital plan—$2.35 billion—will build new and improved hospitals, schools, roads, and housing while driving job creation and economic growth across the province.

This is about more than just infrastructure. It’s about unlocking Nova Scotia’s full potential, making life better for families, and positioning our province for long-term success.

Investing in What Matters

This record-breaking plan focuses on critical projects that will strengthen our communities for generations to come:

🏥 Better Healthcare, Faster – We’re investing in hospital redevelopments in Halifax and Cape Breton, plus major upgrades in Amherst, Yarmouth, the South Shore, and the IWK. New technology, modern equipment, and stronger healthcare infrastructure will improve patient care and reduce wait times.

🏠 More Housing, Faster – The first new investment in public housing in over 20 years. More than $47 million will go toward new public housing units, while an additional $31 million will repair and modernize existing homes.

📚 Stronger Schools, Brighter Futures – $210 million to build and renovate schools, ensuring students have safe, modern learning environments. Three schools are set to open in 2025-26, with two more planned for Bedford and Dartmouth.

🚧 Roads, Bridges, and Storm Repairs – More than $500 million will improve highways, fix bridges, and upgrade rural roads, making travel safer and more reliable. This includes $55 million for gravel roads and $60 million for bridges.

Building for a Stronger Future

This isn’t just about today—it’s about building up Nova Scotia for tomorrow. Strong infrastructure is the foundation of a strong economy. These investments will create jobs, attract new opportunities, and support growth in every region of the province.

“Moving our province forward requires a new mindset. That vision is captured in this capital plan, the largest in our history, positioning us for future growth,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister John Lohr.

Nova Scotians expect leadership that delivers results. Tim Houston’s PCs are making it happen, with smart investments, ensuring our province reaches its full potential.
