Archy has supported thousands of students in their education and career development as the Student Advisor and African Canadian Support with the Nova Scotia Community College. He served as the elected African Nova Scotian Representative of the Halifax Regional School Board and is currently serving his second term as a ministerial appointee on the Provincial Advisory Council on Education.

Beals was born and raised in the community of North Preston. He is the Co-Chair of the Preston Township Emergency Response and Impact Team, which received the 2020 Nova Scotia Human Rights Award. He is also currently the Co-Chair of the Nova Scotia Community College Black and African Canadian Employee Resource Network.

Beals is married to Caroletta Downey-Beals, the father of three girls and the proud grandfather of one granddaughter.
