NEW WATERFORD, N.S. - In her first week on the campaign trail, NDP Leader Claudia Chender is the only party leader who never left Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
Her HRM-only campaign was capped off by attending several events in Halifax with federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, including an Art Gallery reception with the city’s elite.
“Does Claudia Chender not know that there’s an Island called Cape Breton and a province called Nova Scotia outside of HRM,” said Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier PC candidate Darren O’Quinn. “Claudia Chender’s NDP either don’t care about Cape Breton and rural Nova Scotia or they’re taking us for granted.”
Unlike Chender, PC Leader Tim Houston spent two full days on Cape Breton Island this week.
“While Claudia Chender prefers to hang around Halifax with Jagmeet Singh, maybe to find out why he keeps Justin Trudeau in power and supports the carbon tax, Tim Houston cares enough to spend time in Cape Breton,” added O’Quinn. “Only Tim Houston and the PCs are able to deliver positive results in government and make it happen for Cape Bretoners.”
O’Quinn says that Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier are left wondering why they don’t matter to Claudia Chender’s NDP.
