HALIFAX - Tim Houston’s PC Government has been building up Nova Scotia and making investments the Liberals and NDP refused to do through the 2010s. This Saturday, August 17, marks three years since Houston won a majority in 2021.
“For years, Zach Churchill’s Liberals refused to make investments needed in Nova Scotia to plan for future growth,” said PC MLA Kent Smith. “Tim Houston’s PC Government is making long overdue investments to keep building up Nova Scotia.”
Action taken by Tim Houston’s PCs include:
- Indexing tax brackets to inflation to keep more money in the pockets of hardworking Nova Scotians. The Liberals and NDP refused to index tax brackets and voted against it in Budget 2024-25. Tim Houston’s PCs got it done.
- Funding a new medical school at Cape Breton University to train more doctors to work in Nova Scotia. If the Churchill Liberals had made this investment at the start of their term, those doctors would already be working in the province.
- Constructing the first new public housing units in 30 years. The Liberals and NDP refused to build more public housing, but Tim Houston’s PCs are focusing on building up more housing across Nova Scotia.
- Expanding the insulin pump program by removing the age cap and introducing coverage for continuous glucose monitors to better support Nova Scotians living with diabetes.
- Investing to create hundreds of new nursing seats across Nova Scotia, and offering jobs to every graduating nurse while providing retention bonuses to those working in the system.
- Opposing the Liberal carbon tax which drives up the cost of living, instead putting forward a plan to reduce emissions without a tax on Nova Scotians.
- And much, much more.
“In the next election, Nova Scotians will have a clear choice: go back to Zach Churchill’s do-nothing Liberals who refused to invest in Nova Scotia, or choose Tim Houston’s PCs who have a plan to keep building up Nova Scotia,” said Smith.
