John White to represent Progressive Conservatives in Glace Bay-Dominion

GLACE BAY – John White will be the Progressive Conservative candidate in Glace Bay-Dominion in the next provincial general election.

First elected in 2021, White has helped build up the constituency of Glace Bay-Dominion through the following investments:

  • Replacing the Seaview Manor with a newer, larger facility that will add 31 rooms and provide care to 144 residents;

  • A new three-storey public housing building in Glace Bay that will house 56 people;

  • More than $17.9 million to Transit Cape Breton to purchase six electric buses, install charging infrastructure and build a new maintenance facility;

  • $6 million towards the construction of a new Glace Bay Youth and Community Centre;

  • $1.1 million for the Pleasant Street water main replacement in Dominion;

  • $175,000 to the Glace Bay Miners’ Museum redevelopment;

  • $130,000 to the Savoy Theatre Society; and

  • Contributions to community projects at Caledonia Athletic Club, Glace Bay Citizens Service League and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 78 Dominion.

“For too long, past governments have taken Glace Bay-Dominion for granted. As MLA, I have gone to the wall to bring millions of dollars in new investments back home to our community to fix what was broken under the previous Liberal government,” said White. “I never forget who matters most in the work that I do as an elected official – the people of Glace Bay-Dominion.”

An educational professional and longtime community activist before his election as MLA, White’s leadership roles in the Nova Scotia Legislature include Chair of the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Community Services Committee and member of the Health Committee, and Private and Local Bills Committee.

“With Johnny White standing up for the people of Glace Bay-Dominion as part of my team, the needs of the people of this constituency are finally getting the attention they deserve,” said Premier Tim Houston. “I need Johnny White back at the Legislature to give Glace Bay-Dominion its strongest possible voice. We can’t go back to a government that ignores health care, neglects seniors, fights with workers and supports the Liberal carbon tax.”
