Johnny White will be the Progressive Conservative candidate in Glace Bay-Dominion and area in the next provincial election.
Community driven and passionate for positive change, White teaches at the Glace Bay High School and was acclaimed on September 2, 2020.
White serves as one of the elected Nova Scotia Teachers Union representatives for Cape Breton and is a Mental Health Professional with the Nova Scotia Critical Incident Stress Management Team where he also serves as the committee chair.
“I’m looking forward to working with PC leader Tim Houston and the rest of the team,” says White. “Tim and I already have a great working relationship. Tim listens to the people on the ground and is willing to work with all partners to make positive change for the province.”
Advocating for better mental health services, creating more economic opportunities and making sure Cape Bretoners have access to primary healthcare are all top priorities for White.
“Johnny cares about Glace Bay-Dominion. There’s no doubt in my mind that he wants to create positive change for the area,” says PC leader Tim Houston. “As an MLA he will be a strong advocate for his constituents, first and foremost.”
White is married to his junior high sweetheart, Junie, and together they raised two girls. He is the Assistant Deputy Chief at Glace Bay Volunteer Fire Department, and has been working with the area youth for over 40 years, currently through a group he initiated called Future Ready Youth Society; he is also the co-founder of the Christmas Crew Society and he serves on the local food bank board of directors.
