Today, the Legislature unanimously passed a PC resolution calling on Prime Minister Trudeau to provide stable healthcare funding for Nova Scotians.

“Under the former Liberal government here in Nova Scotia, we saw an unwillingness to advocate at the national level for more funding for healthcare,” MLA for Colchester North Tom Taggart said today. “Our PC Government has shown that no matter who is in Ottawa, we will always advocate for the interests of Nova Scotians.”

MLA Taggart introduced a motion earlier today noting the federal government funds only 22 percent of healthcare costs in provinces, which has contributed to the system’s decline.

“Current Liberal Leader Zach Churchill sat around the cabinet table for nearly eight years and ignored the situation in healthcare across Nova Scotia,” MLA Taggart said. “Our PC government is working everyday to make long-term improvements to our healthcare system.”

Premier Tim Houston and the other premiers met in Victoria earlier this month where they called on the federal government to sit down and discuss the future of healthcare funding.

“I am glad to see Liberals finally support our call for the federal government to increase healthcare funding to the provinces,” MLA Taggart said.
