GLACE BAY, N.S. - PC candidate John White says Liberal candidate Joe Ward has a long history of criticizing his leader, opposing tax cuts, and supporting a carbon tax.
In a post on X from February 16, 2024, Joe Ward said of Churchill, “Liberals have disastrously weak leadership, and need a full rebuild.”
“How can someone who thinks Churchill is ‘disastrously weak’ run for that party?” asked White. “If his candidate thinks he’s weak, Nova Scotians cannot trust his leadership.”
In the same post from X, Ward criticizes Churchill and tax cuts.
“Reducing HST comes off as a stunt,” said Ward on X. “The Libs have to get away from frat boy leadership attempts.”
“He opposes tax cuts,” said White. “How can he run for Churchill after calling him a ‘frat boy.’”
White added that it wasn’t the only time he criticized Churchill.
On August 11, 2024, when referencing the current Liberal Party of Nova Scotia, he said he sees “nothing from the current crop to be excited about.” He added, “I think NS Libs have to start pushing better policies …”
White pointed to comments Ward made on several occasions supporting the carbon tax.
-
On August 12, 2019, Ward said the carbon tax is something that encourages innovation.
-
On April 1, 2024, he said that carbon taxes don’t cause economic hardship.
“He doesn’t like Zach, he doesn’t like tax cuts, but he loves the carbon tax that makes everything more expensive,” said White. “Joe Ward is running to advance Trudeau’s interests here in Cape Breton.”
