Nursing home CEO and community volunteer Michelle Thompson will be the PC candidate in Antigonish in the next election.
“I believe in the power of rural communities,” Thompson said. “As MLA I will work to create more opportunities for Antigonish to fulfill its incredible potential as a place to live and do business.”
Thompson has been a Registered Nurse for 29 years, working both on the frontlines as a care provider and in leadership roles. She is CEO of RK MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish, teaches nursing part-time and is a part-time therapist for a non-profit organization.
“PC leader Tim Houston’s vision for healthcare, long-term care and mental health is more than a soundbite. He is offering real solutions,” Thompson said. “I can’t wait to use my professional experience to support these very important priorities as part of the PC team.”
Thompson is president of the Continuing Care Association of Nova Scotia and her extensive community involvement includes being a past board member of the Antigonish Celtics Soccer Club, the PHAST swim team, L’Arche, and Arts Health Antigonish – AHA!
“Michelle Thompson’s extensive knowledge of our health care system and incredible compassion for her community will make her a remarkable MLA,” Houston said. “I can’t wait to work with her. She will be a real asset as a member of our PC government.”
Michelle lives in Cloverville with her husband, Darren and has three adult children.
