NDP Platform Won’t Raise Minimum Wage or Cut Taxes

COLE HARBOUR, N.S. - Leah Martin, PC candidate for Cole Harbour, says the Nova Scotia NDP platform offers no minimum wage increase and won’t cut taxes.

“The NDP demand better from everyone but never take action themselves,” said Martin. “They offer no minimum wage increase and no income tax cut.”

A re-elected PC government will raise the minimum wage to $16.50, increase the basic personal exemption on Nova Scotia income taxes from $8,744 to $11,744, end bracket creep, and cut sales taxes.

“The last time the NDP was in office, they hiked the HST by two percentage points,” said Martin. “They increased taxes, cut from health care, cut from education, and failed minimum wage workers.”

Martin said Chender’s platform fails workers.

“The PCs have presented a clear plan to Nova Scotians to make it happen with more doctors, lower taxes, and higher wages, " said Martin. “Claudia Chender is either withholding significant portions of her plans or has no plan at all.”
