Nova Scotians still waiting for release of data on school ventilation systems

The following is a statement from PC Education Critic Tim Halman, regarding the release of data on school ventilation systems.

Last week, Zach Churchill, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development said that he expected the data on school ventilation systems to be made available early this week.

The week has passed and Nova Scotians have no further assurance that their children, the staff and teachers in their communities have safe air quality in their schools.

We fully expect the government to bury this late on a Friday when they think nobody is watching.

In reality, parents, students and teachers are eagerly awaiting to see what, if any, steps this government has taken to fix a problem which was first raised last summer.

By continuing to withhold this information, the Liberals are causing anxiety that this report will be as scathing as the previous report on school lead water levels.

Providing public and timely access to information is the bare minimum parents expect.

I’m calling on the Minister of Education to provide an update on the compiling of this report and to release it as soon as it becomes available.
