Outhit nominated PC candidate in Bedford Basin

BEDFORD – A longtime Halifax regional councillor is running in Bedford Basin for the Nova Scotia PC Party in the next provincial general election.

Tim Outhit was recently nominated as the PC candidate in the constituency.

“As my time at City Hall was coming to an end this fall, many of my constituents were asking me to find a way to represent their views and advance the priorities of the people of Bedford,” said Outhit. “Under his pragmatic, sensible leadership, Premier Tim Houston has put together a team that is focused on solutions, action, results and building up Nova Scotia.  I felt the best way to continue to help the residents of Bedford Basin in the years ahead is to be a strong voice as MLA in Tim Houston’s government to advocate for and support infrastructure and service enhancements to address our growth and potential.”

Outhit was first elected Halifax regional councillor for the Bedford-Wentworth district in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012, 2016 and 2020, before deciding at the beginning of this year not to seek a new municipal term.  He was elected by his council colleagues to serve as Deputy Mayor of Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) in 2020.

Outhit is a long-time advocate for improved infrastructure and more transportation options.  He looks forward to advancing these crucial issues at the decision-making table as MLA.

Born and raised in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Outhit has lived in Bedford since 2000, where he and his wife raised their two daughters.  He is a graduate of Dalhousie University and has completed executive and management programs at Queen's University, York University, and the University of Toronto. Outhit has extensive leadership experience in the private sector, serving as President and CEO of Novaknowledge, Director of Business Development at AOL, World WideChannels Manager for Electronics Workbench software and Vice President of QUICKLAW.

“Tim Outhit is a proven, respected leader who the people of Bedford know and trust.  He is someone they can always count on,” said Premier Tim Houston.  “Bedford Basin deserves a strong, effective voice as part of my team in government.  I can think of no better person to make things happen for the people of this constituency than Tim Outhit.”

Premier Tim Houston’s PC Team has delivered record investments in healthcare, housing and infrastructure.  The Houston PCs also provided tax relief, while at the same time fighting against the Liberal carbon tax.
