Hockey coach, NHL agent, and entrepreneur, Tim Cranston is the PC candidate in Halifax Atlantic for the next provincial election.
Cranston co-founded Natural Ocean Products Inc., which was recognized for its innovation nationally and internationally, including receiving the Nova Scotia Discovery Award for "Outstanding Achievement in Transforming Science and Technology in a Business Opportunity.”
Cranston is running for the PC Party because he believes innovative ideas are what is needed to repair Nova Scotia’s health system and drive the economy forward.
“I’m excited to be joining a solutions-focused team that is bringing innovative policies to government, like the Better Paycheck Guarantee, which will attract and grow many businesses in Nova Scotia,” says Cranston. “Tim Houston is bringing forward a bold vision that is different from what governments have promised in the past - and I look forward to carrying out these solutions as a part of a PC government.”
Cranston played professional hockey in eight countries for 15 years, participating in European and IIHF World Championships, winning IIHF Gold in 1993. In recognition of his play, Cranston was elected to the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.
An NHL Players' Association agent, Cranston was certified in 2002 and has guided over two dozen NHL drafted players through their personal training and development and represented them at various NHL drafts.
“Tim’s business experience will be a valuable asset to our PC government as we set forward innovative solutions to drive Nova Scotia forward,” says PC Leader Tim Houston. “The Halifax Atlantic community will be well served by an MLA who is a hard worker that can bring new ideas to the table.”
Cranston has a Degree in Law from the University of Durham (UK) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law York (UK). He also has a Masters degree in Technology, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (MTEI), from Saint Mary's University, Halifax.
He is on the Executive of Chebucto Minor Hockey VP of Recreational Hockey, is a coach at the Novice (U9) level, and is the Executive VP of the Central Minor Hockey Federation.
Raised in Fleming Heights, Tim Cranston resides in East Pennant with his wife Anna and son, Bowen.
