CHERRY BROOK, NS - Lifelong community advocate and Cherry Brook resident, Twila Grosse, will represent Premier Tim Houston’s PCs in the upcoming by-election in Preston. Grosse says the by-election gives Preston residents the opportunity to choose between two years of action or two years of opposition.
“The communities in Preston deserve a strong voice at the decision-making table,” said Grosse. “I’ve spent my life focused on giving back to these communities. I know that I can help the residents of the Preston riding even more as part of Tim Houston’s PC Government.”
With a background in finance, working for 36 years at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Twila has been actively involved in her community. Her community service includes sitting on the boards of the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia, the Alderney Landing Community Culture Centre, United Way Halifax, the Halifax Foundation, the Atlantic Baptist Foundation, the African United Baptist Association of Nova Scotia, Atlantic Baptist Women, and the Southeastern Community Health Board. She is also actively involved in leadership positions within the Cherry Brook United Baptist Church.
The by-election was triggered after the resignation of the former Liberal MLA for Preston.
“Twila has dedicated her time and energy to improving her community,” said Premier Houston. “I want Twila’s perspective and experience at the decision-making table as a part of our PC team. Preston needs an action-oriented leader who will help me fix healthcare, care for our most vulnerable, and make life more affordable - not an opposition MLA criticizing from the sidelines. I look forward to campaigning alongside Twila to earn the support of the people of Preston.”
