Halifax Atlantic MLA Brendan Maguire joins Tim Houston’s PC Caucus

 

Maguire credits Houston Government’s leadership on housing, healthcare as motivation for joining PCs

HALIFAX, NS - Halifax Atlantic MLA Brendan Maguire is joining Premier Tim Houston’s team as a member of the PC Caucus.

First elected in 2013, Maguire was re-elected in 2017 and 2021. He previously served as Minister for Municipal Affairs and Deputy Speaker. 

“I work hard to deliver for my community, and I see Premier Houston as a leader who is doing the same for Nova Scotians,” said Maguire. “Premier Houston and his government have shown a focus on getting things done by building up housing, healthcare, and jobs across Nova Scotia. I want to be part of the team under Premier Houston’s leadership that is delivering for Nova Scotia.”

Premier Houston said he is happy to have a strong community advocate like Brendan Maguire join his PC team. 

“Brendan is known as a tireless advocate for the communities in his constituency of Halifax Atlantic,” said Houston. “With Brendan as part of our PC team we will have another member of our team focused on constructing more homes, fixing healthcare, and building up Nova Scotia.”

Premier Houston announced Maguire will serve as the Minister of Community Services. 

“Brendan has consistently offered good advice and solutions on the Community Services portfolio. He has the lived experience, helping to make him the right fit for this file. Brendan is also an incredibly hard worker, who I know will give this everything he has,” said Premier Houston.

Brendan Maguire joining the PC Caucus brings the PCs to 33 members.
