Since the tragic events of April 18 and 19th, I have repeatedly called for the province to ban the sale of cars designed to impersonate police vehicles.
Today we learned that a man was arrested for allegedly possessing a car outfitted to look like a police cruiser and allegedly attempting to pull over drivers.
This is incredibly dangerous. It’s no longer enough to say that lives are at stake. It’s too late for statements like that.
The PC Caucus intended to introduce legislation to fix this significant loophole in our laws. Unfortunately, the Legislature has been shut down by the governing Liberals for almost 10 months, preventing us from making this change.
This cannot wait a second longer. I'm calling on the government to take steps to ban the sale of these vehicles outfitted with police accessories.
