PC MLA Steve Craig will continue his decades of community and elected service advocating for the people of Sackville-Cobequid as the PC candidate in the upcoming provincial election.
Craig is a proven leader and a respected voice of reason who is committed to helping to make life easier for his constituents.
“Nova Scotians need a government leader like Tim Houston and his PC team that can make common sense, positive, impactful decisions,” says Craig. “In the two years I’ve worked with this PC Caucus, I’ve seen colleagues using their professional and life experiences to demonstrate that they can propel Nova Scotia forward.”
“The quality and diversity of the new candidates adds even more breadth and depth to Tim Houston's PC team."
Before being first elected MLA in a 2019 by-election, Craig was a Halifax Regional Municipality Councillor and Deputy Mayor where he made notable municipal improvements in Lower Sackville. He retired in 2005 after a 30-year telecommunications management career with MT&T (now Bell Aliant).
Craig served over three decades as a community volunteer in both formal and informal leadership roles with organizations such as the Canadian Cancer Society, Cobequid Community Health Centre Foundation, Lake District Recreation Association, Sackville Lakes Provincial Park Association, and Sackville Rivers Association to name but a few.
“Steve is a dedicated leader who cares deeply for the Sackville-Cobequid community,” says PC Leader Tim Houston. “I want to thank him for continuing to put his name forward and I look forward to having him as a part of our PC government.”
Craig moved to Lower Sackville in 1971 and is married to his 1972-73 Sackville High School sweetheart, Sackville-born Shari. They have been married 46 years and live in the house Shari’s grandparents built on the Old Sackville Road in 1954. They have adult children and a grandson.
